Martinez Arts Assoc. members showcased in Main Street Arts exhibit
The Main Street Arts exhibit runs Sept. 3 through Oct. 17.

MARTINEZ, CA (Sept. 1, 2021) — In September, Main Street Arts presents an exhibit of Martinez Arts Association members, featuring Denise Hillman and 18 artists.

Denise Hillman is a Bay Area artist who paints people and places that she feels a strong connection to. She strives to express in her work the idea of human and global connectedness.

A deep passion for travel and appreciation of world cultures provides compelling inspiration for Denise, and she often paints from her reference photos taken on the road in faraway places as well as local waterfronts, towns and hiking trails. She sometimes explores themes and techniques in more depth by developing a series of paintings — such as the celebration of Dia de los Muertos in Mexico, or a recent series based on people who are part of her life.

Denise holds BA degrees in Expressive Arts and Advertising, and participates in local plein air and figurative groups, classes and professional workshops. She is also a volunteer and board member of the Martinez Arts Association, and an active member of the Concord Art Association and the Lamorinda Arts Alliance.
