CONCORD, CA—Thanksgiving celebrations will be challenging for many in 2020. To help out, Concord’s Vice Mayor, Dominic Aliano, in partnership with the Unity Council, organized the distribution of 1000 turkey dinners this week.

Discovery Homes supplied and supported the giveaway. Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery and the Building Trades of Contra Costa County provided transportation to deliver meals. Local organizations helped bring the food to local neighbors and people in need including several of the retail stores in 1500 Monument that gave these out to their employees who needed help. Visit Concord and the Concord Police Department supported the event as well.

Aliano said, “I have been truly saddened to see the need of my constituents brought on by the economic devastation of COVID-19. I hope this turkey giveaway can help families celebrate Thanksgiving and have a day free of worry.”

Dozens of volunteers gathered Wednesday at the Refuge Church on Meadow Lane to help share the food with those in need.

Aliano thanked Albert Seeno III, with Discovery Homes, for donating the turkeys. Families who registered for the meals were able to drive through to pick them up Wednesday morning.
