The Pioneer’s high school football scores update, Oct. 12, 2022
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Oct. 12, 2022) — Last week’s local high school games provided offensive fireworks as the winning team scored at least 34 points and four losing teams had totals of 35 or 28 points.
When all the scoring stopped so did the undefeated seasons for Concord and Northgate. Unfortunately for both teams, those defeats came in their first league games. The Minutemen fell to Diablo Athletic League Valley Division title rival College Park 34-28 while the Broncos came up short to visiting Miramonte 43-35 in their DAL Foothill opener.
Mt. Diablo won another shootout 35-28 over long-time rival and still winless Ygnacio Valley.
And in Stockton, Saint Mary’s outscored De La Salle 45-35 as the Spartans dropped to a near unprecedented 3-3 record. Those three losses have come against teams with a combined 19-1 record and are the only three teams in Northern California ranked higher than the Concord powerhouse in SportStars NorCal rankings this week. DLS’s recent unusual run of form has seen them lose six of their last 17 games overall.
Clayton Valley Charter opened East Bay Athletic League Mountain Division action with an impressive 47-14 win in Pleasanton over Amador Valley.
