Substitute Teacher Job Fair Nov. 6 in Contra Costa County

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. — Contra Costa County Office of Education will host a job fair on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9-11 a.m. in response to a shortage of substitute teachers and other school personnel throughout the county.

To help ease the shortfall, Superintendent Lynn Mackey is encouraging qualified members of the community to apply to be substitute teachers in local schools.

“We are facing a shortage of educators in our community and across our state,” Mackey said. “With this shortage of educators comes a shortage of substitute teachers and our schools need the community’s help. All you need is to have a bachelor’s degree, basic subject-matter proficiency, and a passion for working with students.”

A number of school districts and the CCCOE will have representatives at the fair Nov. 6. In addition to substitute teaching openings, county districts are looking for qualified applicants for full-time teachers, custodial staff, food services, certificated and classified positions.

Interested applicants can get more information online at cocoschools.org/becomeasub or by attending the Job Fair hosted in the Ronald L. Stewart Learning Center, 77 Santa Barbara Rd. in Pleasant Hill. The school districts attending the job fair, as well as other information, can be found on the CCCOE’s website.

CCCOE abides by all Contra Costa County COVID-19 protocols. Visitors are required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status and do their best to socially distance when possible. All attendees will be asked to take a health screening survey upon entering the Stewart Building.
