Star Wars Celebration at Contra Costa Con this Sunday in Hilton Concord
CONCORD, CA (Mar. 22, 2024) — Contra Costa Con Celebrates 10th Anniversaryof the debut of Star Wars Rebels THIS SUNDAY, Mar. 24, in the Hilton Concord Ballroom.
This second annual Contra Costa Con Star Wars Show is open from 10am to 4pm with free parking at the Hilton. Kids 9 and under are free.
We are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Star Wars Rebels with special guests from the Star Wars family including C. Andrew Nelson (Darth Vader since 1994), David Gonzalez (Ak-rev) and Terence McGovern (Star Wars, American Graffiti, THX 1138).
Jim Cummings has had to postpone his scheduled Sunday appearance until our 4th annual Contra Costa Halloween Con on Oct. 27. A totally unanticipated obligation came up in the past day that precludes him from attending this Sunday. Anyone who has purchased tickets to Sunday’s Contra Costa Con Star Wars Celebration can get a full refund through Eventbrite until 10am this Sunday, Mar. 24.
Jim Cummings’ friend Terry McGovern has been added to the show. George Lucas credits Terry with coming up with the name Wookiee for Chewbacca. He was included in Lucas’ first three films as an actor or voice actor: THX 1138, American Graffiti and Star Wars. He has been a voice on many Star Wars video games as well as acting or voice actor in, among many movies and television shows, Mrs. Doubtfire, Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales and Transformers.
Star Wars costuming groups Rebel Legion Endor Base, Mandalorian Mercs, 501st Golden Gate Garrison and Droid Builders will be on hand all day for their fans.
We are also presenting Contra Costa Halloween Con on October 27 in the Hilton Concord.
Our Contra Costa Cons have been smash hits. Toys, collectibles, artwork, comics, anime, art, apparel, games, LEGO and much more will be featured at the family-friendly show hosted by Bay Area Festivals and American Brick Builders.
The free, family-friendly STAR WARS Cosplay Costume Contest for attendees will feature cash and merchandise prizes for creative Star Wars characters in different age groups. Contest registration will be taken during the day with contest judging at 3 o’clock. Only Star Wars-themed costumes will be eligible for prizes.
New items and collectibles from Disney, Transformers, Funko Pop, LEGO, Pokémon, G.I. Joe, Marvel, DC, Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, Hot Wheels and much more will be available by the wide variety of exhibitors at the show. Posters, art, prints, t-shirts, hats, apparel, anime, sports cards, books, comics, Legos, buttons, pins, classic video games, jewelry and cards are featured too.
Kids 9 and under are free.
Admission tickets are $12 and include a $2 Toy Buck with each advance purchase online. That sale ends at 9am Sunday, Mar. 24.
Online sales continue until the end of Contra Costa Con. Door sales begin THIS SUNDAY at 9:45 am at the Hilton.
