Soroptimists to Offer Cash Grants to Women for Educational or Training Expenses

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Nov. 5, 2024) — Women who serve as the primary wage earners for their families and seek financial assistance to continue their education or receive training can now apply for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream: Education and Training Awards for Women. Applicants should apply online at https://www.soroptimist.org/our-work/live-your-dream-awards/apply-for-the-live-your-dream-awards.html or by contacting Lisa Schibler at 925-989-6282 or lschibler13@gmail.com

Soroptimist International of 24-680 will provide a cash award to its award recipient who can use the Live Your Dream Award to offset costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education or additional skills and training. This includes tuition, books, childcare, carfare, or any other education-related expense.

The Live Your Dream Award provides over $2.8 million in cash awards to head-of-household women in need each year. Since the program’s inception in 1972, more than $40 million has helped tens of thousands of women achieve their dreams of a better life for themselves and their families. It improves the recipients’ quality of life; builds their confidence; strengthens their self-determination and makes them want to, in turn, help others. Helping women in this way has the demonstrated effect of leading to stronger communities, nations, and the world.

For more information on the Live Your Dream Award please contact Lisa Schibler, Soroptimist International of 24-680, 925-989-6282, email: lschibler13@gmail.com . The application deadline is November 15.

Violet Richardson Award

It’s What You Do That Counts

If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.

The Violet Richardson Award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts.  Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are of particular interest.
