CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Nov. 10, 2024) — It looks like Concord Mayor Edi Birsan’s 12-year run on the City Council is coming to an end, as election results show Pablo Benavente maintaining a slim margin. Meanwhile, Clayton Mayor Jim Diaz appears to be holding on to his council seat – coming in third in a four-person race for three seats.

Richard Enea and incumbent Holly Tillman were the top vote getters in Clayton. In another Concord race, Carlyn Obringer retained her council seat in District 2.

In Pleasant Hill’s first election with council districts, Marshall Lewis held a slight lead for District 1, while Amanda Szakats looks like the winner in District 5.

Although votes are still being counted, other winners included Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, Tim Grayson for state Senate and Annemarie Avila Farias to replace Grayson in the state Assembly. Read the complete story.
