CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Mar. 10, 2024) — In resigning as Clayton’s city manager, Bret Prebula shared a letter expressing his “profound gratitude” to the community.

“This decision was not made lightly but comes after much contemplation about my professional journey and the future path I wish to embark upon,” he said. “The decision to move and lead a new organization is rooted in my desire to realign with the work that initially drew me into public service.”

Oscar preview: Pioneer film critic Jeff Mellinger looks at the movies up for Best Picture tonight, Sunday, March 10. Like many, he’s predicting an “Oppenheimer” blowout. “It is so far superior to the rest of the bunch,” he said, adding: “Yet, many of the other nominees are definitely worth watching.”

The local music scene: Dave Hughes talks with Concord musician Sin Silver, who is planning two special events for St. Patrick’s Day. Meanwhile, Singer Songwriter Sunday returns to Todos Santos Plaza on April 7, with more music on May 12 and June 2.
