So This Happened…Week of April 15 through 21, 2024
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Apr. 21, 2024) — After a referendum drive failed, Concord enacted its new Residential Tenant Protection Program on April 19. However, the City Council will review the single-family homes element at the May 14 meeting.
“There’s definitely enough confusion in regard to single-family homes and just cause that we should discuss this and see if there is a clarifying amendment or changes,” said Mayor Edi Birsan.
’Tis the season to head outdoors: Clayton’s popular Art & Wine Festival is just the first of many local events geared toward family fun and great food. The crowds will head downtown April 27-28. Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill Mayor Matt Rinn provides a preview of the city’s spring and summer schedule. For a list of other local gatherings, check out the Pioneer’s calendar.
More music on tap: Pioneer columnist Dave Hughes offers up albums and EPs from several Bay Area artists, with many having upcoming local shows. And, Concord’s Music & Market Concert Series returns to Todos Santos Plaza on June 6.
Singing their hearts out: Clayton Valley’s Show Choir, Concert Choir and Women’s Ensemble took gold at the World Stride Choir and Music Festival in Nashville. “Knowing this was my last time competing with the group, I hoped we would get gold for one of the choirs,” said senior McCovey Brennan. “I never expected to sweep the competition.”
