Pleasant Hill panel to discuss challenges facing LGBTQ community

PLEASANT HILL, CA (Jan. 2, 2022) — Pleasant Hill’s Community Conversations series focuses on social issues in the community. Their next event will stream on Zoom on January 12, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The upcoming conversation will center on the issues and challenges facing the members of the LGBTQ community.

Those joining the Jan. 12 panel include:

  • Kiku Johnson – Executive Director, Rainbow Community Center
  • Christy Smyth – Program Manager with the Phoenix
  • Pleasant Hill Mayor Michael Harris
  • Reverend Dr. D. Mark Wilson
  • Pleasant Hill Council member Ken Carlson
  • Pleasant Hill Police Sergeant Jason Kleven

The Community Conversations series focuses on social issues moderated by the Civic Action Commission’s Diversity sub-committee. The ongoing series evolved from discussions held in the wake of George Floyd’s death in May 2020.

You can join the discussion on Zoom. The panel will also stream live to the City’s Youtube channel.

The Pleasant Hill Diversity Commission holds regular meetings on the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m. They welcome the public to attend a meeting to learn more about the Commission.
