New Eagle Scout boosts school garden

Boy Scout Brian Ruiz, a senior at Clayton Valley Charter High School, built an amphitheater for a middle school garden to earn his Eagle Scout honor.

Ruiz said the amphitheater will provide a place for presentations at the Bay Point school. He received his recognition on April 13 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Concord.

Ruiz is a member of Concord Troop 484, with Scoutmaster Jason Myers. The 18-year-old is the son of Edward and Evelyn Ruiz of Bay Point.
