Kids’ can win prizes with Travis Credit Union’s  Financially Savvy Superhero Reading Challenge

VACAVILLE, CA — Travis Credit Union Foundation, in partnership with Solano County Library, is introducing the Financially Savvy Superheroes Reading Challenge. Children in Kindergarten through 6th grade can participate in the challenge until November 30, 2021. The goal of this reading challenge is to teach young children the basics of personal finance and economics by laying a strong financial literacy foundation.

A number of financial research reports and studies have made it clear that Americans need more financial literacy. Statistics also show that financial education should start as early as kindergarten in order to produce a financially savvy generation that is confident in making important financial decisions around savings and spending.

“Financial literacy isn’t just about getting better with money to buy more stuff—it’s about getting better with managing money to improve many different aspects of life,” said Shannon Lujan, Community Relations Manager for Travis Credit Union. “Financial literacy is important at all ages, and beginning to teach these principles to younger children can instill lasting habits that help achieve financial success as an adult.”
