Free summer meals for children in Contra Costa County
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (June 16, 2024) — This summer, no child should go hungry in Contra Costa County. Local agencies teamed up with the United States Department of Agriculture’s SUN Meals program to offer free breakfast and lunch to kids ages 2-18 at various locations throughout the county.
The program offers free summer meals to any child aged 18 and under, no application or other information needed.
The Contra Costa County Office of Education (CCCOE) has compiled a list of free meal locations and other local food resources to assist families during the summer break.
“As food prices continue to rise, I hope families can take advantage of the Summer Food Service Program to help feed their families and stretch their grocery dollars during the summer months,” Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey said. “Several school districts are working with the USDA and community partners to provide free, convenient meals and snacks for kids during the summer at schools, parks, libraries, and other neighborhood locations.”
