CVCHS students present Golden Apple Award to CA State Senator Steve Glazer
CONCORD, CA (Aug. 31, 2023) — This week, Clayton Valley Charter High School (CVCHS) students attending EAGLEi Independent Study Program visited the State Capitol and presented the Golden Apple Award to Senator Steve Glazer (D-Concord).
“On behalf of EAGLEi and the tens of thousands of other students attending a full-time school-at-home, non-classroom based school or independent study program, we are honored to present you with the 2023 Golden Apple Award. Thank you, Senator Steve Glazer,” said Margie DiGiorgio, Director for EAGLEi.
Each legislative session, this award celebrates individuals who champion initiatives that empower families to make informed educational decisions for their children. Students from around the state visit the State Capitol to present the Golden Apple Award to distinguished lawmakers who demonstrate an exceptional dedication to support parent choice and a quality public education for all students in California. In addition to Senator Glazer, Senator Roger Niello (R-Sacramento) was also awarded the Golden Apple Award.
Throughout his legislative career, Senator Glazer has been a resolute champion for equality within the public education system. His unwavering dedication to creating an inclusive, safe and profound educational experience for all students.
Senator Steve Glazer’s commitment to these principles has undoubtedly earned him this esteemed recognition. Previous award recipients include Governor Jerry Brown, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell, and Secretary of State Shirley Weber.

California Parents for Public Virtual Education (CPPVE) established the Golden Apple Award in 2011. The statewide parent volunteer organization advocates for access to online education. It also promotes a quality curriculum and equal funding for all students. The annual Golden Apple Award recognizes policymakers who exhibit exemplary dedication to promoting parent choice and quality education in California.
