Cool cakes and Curry’s jersey help raise $7,000+ at Concord Chamber crab feed
More than 400 attended the Concord Chamber of Commerce annual crab feed last Friday. This is the chamber’s major fundraising event and includes over 80 gift baskets for the silent auction, a live auction and the celebrity cake auction.
Scene stealer in the live auction this year was Steph Curry’s Number 30 jersey. The spirited bidding brought a near record-breaking bid of $1,650 by Raymond Padilla from Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery.
The popular celebrity cake auction raises needed funds for Chamber scholarships and included a lemon, cream and chocolate sugar-high delight from City Councilwoman Laura Hoffmeister who decorated the showstopper herself under the tutelage of the Safeway bakery staff.
Councilman Edi Birsan’s signature fedora, baked by Chamber member Alpine Bakery, brought in the highest bid. This year’s cake auction raised more than $6,000. The money will be awarded to Concord high school seniors in May.
