Contra Costa superintendent of schools honored for supporting families impacted by domestic violence
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Nov. 12, 2024) — Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey was selected to receive the Rollie Mullen Leadership Award by STAND! For Families Free of Violence, an honor that recognizes individuals or groups committed to ending domestic violence.
Superintendent Mackey was chosen for her unwavering dedication and impactful contributions to the STAND! mission to repair the lives of those affected by domestic violence, especially children in emergency shelters and transitional housing programs.
“I am deeply honored to be selected as the recipient of the Rollie Mullen Leadership Award,” Mackey said. “This recognition is a testament to the collaborative efforts and unwavering commitment of the Contra Costa Office of Education and STAND! For Families Free From Violence to break the multi-generational cycle of violence, promote safe and strong relationships, and rebuild lives. Thank you for this incredible honor and for the opportunity to make a lasting impact.”
STAND! CEO Rhonda James said Mackey’s forward-thinking approach and steady support have been instrumental in providing much-needed funding for summer activities and establishing an on-site learning environment for children during the global pandemic.

Notable figures such as Senator Dianne Feinstein, U.S. Representative George Miller, philanthropist Margaret Lesher, and community organization Bay Area Legal Aid have also received the Rollie Mullen Leadership Award.
