Contra Costa residents answer call for PPE donations
Area residents answered the Contra Costa Health Services’ call for donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) and supplies at three locations around the county starting March 24. Donations will be distributed to health providers where there is greatest need.
The first day tally of donations of protective equipment and supplies at the 3 drop off points totaled 1,420 n95 masks, 480 medical masks, 5000 gloves, and various miscellaneous supplies.
Call the health services call center at 844-729-8410 with questions about what protective equipment will be accepted. Whether it was by car or a mother who strolled up with children in a stroller, donations were gladly accepted how ever means necessary. “It’s all I have; I wish had more to give,” said one woman who dropped off a large single canister of disinfectant wipes.
Donations accepted at pop-up stations in Pleasant Hill (1750 Oak Park Blvd.), Antioch (4545 Delta Fair Blvd.), and Hercules (151 Linus Pauling Drive) will continue operating Monday to Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. until further notice.
