Contra Costa Firefighters battle second fire in 5 days at Concord Church
UPDATE (May 17, 2021, 3pm) Concord Police arrested a homeless man suspected of arson for the Monday morning fire. The man was not linked to Thursday morning’s fire.
CONCORD, CA (May 17, 2021) — Around midnight, a fire broke out on the property of the Christ Community Church in Concord. Just a few days earlier, a 2-alarm blaze heavily damaged classrooms and a kitchen on the property.
Last night’s fire reportedly burned an administrative building on the property. The fire also damaged a church piano along with stored bibles and church records.
Firefighters contained the fire around 2 a.m.
The church has a history of break-ins by people looking for shelter and investigators determined that human activity in the crawlspace under the church caused the May 13 fire. No word yet on the cause of this mornings fire yet.
