Concord’s 4th of July kicks off with 5K run starting in Todos Santos Plaza
CONCORD, CA (July 4, 2022) — 4th of July celebrations got an early start in Todos Santos Plaza this morning with the Stars and Stripes 5K run.
The race includes special medals for all finishers, as well as custom age group medals for 5-year age group divisions. Part of the proceeds from this race will benefit Ainsley’s Angels and their mission to provide race chairs to disabled persons, making them able to participate and engage with their communities at events like this.
First off, the kid’s fun run started at 8 a.m. Kids got the chance to race around Todos Santos Plaza as gleeful parents and supporters cheered them on.
Following the kid’s race, the crowd put hands on hearts for the Star Spangled Banner. Next, Ainsley’s Angels headed out on their customized racing vehicles. And finally, the 5K runners took their marks and ran, or walked, to begin the course.
Meanwhile, Concord’s Rotary served a great pancake breakfast, mostly to those not running.
Evan Molineux, 28, (Danville) came in first place in the 5K run with a time of 15:04. The rest of the top five finishers, in order, were Patrick Curulla, 19, (Livermore), Connor Livingston, 21, (Livermore), Agustin Gomez De La Vega, 19, (Dublin) and Christopher Coleman, 17, (San Ramon).
