Concord seeks community input for Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Program
CONCORD, CA (August 24, 2024) — The City of Concord is considering several properties for a program that may change allowable land uses to facilitate the development of high-density residential housing. To discuss the next steps of this project and receive community input, the City is hosting two community meetings on this topic in mid-September.
This potential rezoning will not affect any current uses on the properties under consideration but will allow high-density residential housing to be built in addition to the existing permitted uses.
This initiative, known as the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Project (AFFH), is part of Concord’s Housing Element. The City is committed to rezoning at least 20 acres in higher resource neighborhoods to permit high-density multifamily development (up to 60 units per acre). These 20 acres will be distributed across various parcels within the study area.
Community Meeting Details (you only need to attend one):
- In-Person Meeting: Monday, Sept. 16, 6 p.m. at Centre Concord, 5298 Clayton Road, Concord
- Virtual Meeting: Thursday, Sept. 19, 6 p.m. via Zoom (register today)
