Concord Police apprehend suspects involved in a series of crimes
CONCORD, CA (Mar. 5, 2024) — The Concord Police Department successfully apprehended two suspects involved in a series of alarming incidents that rattled residents in the area.
It all began last week when CPD responded to reports of a reckless driver wreaking havoc in a residential neighborhood. Witnesses reported the driver intentionally hitting garbage cans along the street. Despite an area check, officers did not locate the vehicle at the time.
Shortly after, another distress call came in. A citizen driving on Arnold Industrial Way reported being followed and intentionally rammed by a vehicle. Fortunately, the citizen escaped serious injury and provided a detailed description of the suspect vehicle. Her description matched the one involved in the earlier incident with the garbage cans. Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
As the day unfolded, more incidents came to light. A victim reported their vehicle stolen from a local hospital parking lot, where officers discovered two other abandoned stolen vehicles.
Meanwhile, CPD received multiple reports of a reckless driver in downtown Concord matching the description of the stolen vehicle. A pursuit ensued but was terminated due to safety concerns.
More mayhem
However, the saga wasn’t over yet. Hours later, the stolen vehicle resurfaced in Concord, prompting a concerted effort by CPD patrol officers, detectives, and air support from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office. Their efforts paid off when the vehicle was once again located, this time in Walnut Creek. Officers successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested two individuals without further incident.
Subsequent investigation revealed that one of the suspects was responsible for the earlier ramming incident.
The case is ongoing, and CPD intends to refer it to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities expressed gratitude for the cooperation of witnesses and the courage of victims, whose detailed information and cooperation were instrumental in the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of multiple stolen vehicles. Their collaboration underscored the importance of community involvement in combating crime and ensuring public safety.
