CONCORD, CA (April 15, 2023) — CPD is focused on getting illegal guns and drugs off the streets.

Last week, while conducting foot patrols in the area of Clayton Rd. and Pine St. SET Officers contacted multiple subjects outside of a residence. One of the subjects was on parole for a violent offense. Another subject was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for drug and gun related charges.

During the investigation, officers located a gun in a bag worn by the parolee. The subject on PRCS had an outstanding felony warrant. They found an additional subject possessing narcotics who lied to law enforcement about his name. Unfortunately the name he gave belonged to another person who also had an outstanding warrant.

A records check ultimately revealed that the third subject also had an outstanding felony warrant for narcotic sales. Officers arrested all of the subjects and booked them into County Jail for the warrants and various firearms and narcotics charges.

In another case on Friday night, SET Officers conducted a suspicious vehicle check of a vehicle at a gas station. They detained the two occupants. Next, CPD K9 Officer VanDiver with his partner Rita performed a sniff of the vehicle. After a K9 alert, the vehicle was searched and a loaded handgun was found inside the glove box.

Both occupants were convicted felons and the passenger is on active parole. They were arrested on a variety of firearm related offenses. With the a great assist from the Concord PD K9 Unit, SET Officers got another gun off the street.

Illegal guns and narcotics confiscated by SET Officers during arrests this past week in separate incidents.
