Concord man and Martinez man identified as victims of plane crash

CONCORD, CA (June 9, 2023) — The Solano County Sheriff’s Office identified Concord resident Benjamin Shreve, 41, as one of two men who died Thursday in a plane crash. The other victim was Jesse Buckner, a 33-year-old resident of Martinez.

The pair had been flying a home-made bi-plane designed for aerobatics. Witnesses reported the crash at 11:45 am Thursday in a field near the Rio Vista Municipal Airport. Witnesses did not know if the pilot was landing or taking off or how long the plane had been in the air.

No other injuries have been reported in the crash of this single-engine Steen Skybolt. The crash is currently under investigation.
