Concord gearing up for new downtown Visitor Center

Concord gearing up for new downtown Visitor CenterA new Experiential Visitor Center is set to open in downtown Concord, CA, in January. Visit Concord, the city’s tourism improvement agency, can’t wait.

The center will offer an informative experience to visitors and locals who want to understand all that the community has to offer. It will be on the first floor of Salvio Pacheco Square at 2151 Salvio St., next to Todos Santos Plaza.

Keeping with Visit Concord’s commitment to sharing Concord attractions, assets, culture and progress with the world, the 1,650 sq. ft. center will feature a variety of state-of-the-art interactive displays. Visitors will find pop-up shops highlighting local businesses and community organizations, culinary demonstrations, art installations and historic exhibits – including a listening station that celebrates Concord’s jazz roots and native jazz legend Dave Brubeck.

Services and conveniences will be at the forefront of the facility, and the center will provide transportation details, distribute discount offers and sell tickets to local attractions. An electronic information kiosk will list upcoming events and offer self-service directory assistance.

The center will also include a small conference area, remote workspaces, charging stations and WiFi connectivity. With Concord boasting an average of 263 sunny days a year, visitors will be able to take full advantage of the outdoor patio and indigenous garden.

Building community

In addition to welcoming people from out of town, the center will build upon the strong sense of community in Concord – creating a place where residents can come together. Locals will be encouraged to participate in ongoing educational programs and volunteer to work in the center as official welcome ambassadors.

“We are very excited to see the vision for Concord’s first Experiential Visitor Center become a reality,” said Elaine Schroth, executive director of Visit Concord.

“As Concord continues to grow, the center will be an extremely important part of ensuring that visitors enjoy their time in our great city,” she added. “The center will support our continued efforts to make a positive impact on economic and community development.”

A ribbon cutting and open house will be planned for early 2020.
