CLAYTON, CA (Oct. 27, 2024) — The second annual Woof O Ween dog costume contest took place this past weekend at the Clayton Community Church on Main Street. The event featured a delightful array of canine creativity and Halloween spirit.

The festivities kicked off with a “Walk About,” where the 22 decked out doggies paraded through downtown Clayton, showcasing their costumes to the enthusiastic townsfolk. The judges — dog trainer Deb DeMello, owner of Who’s Training Who, and Gina Gaglioti, manager of Pet Food Express — had the challenging task of selecting the winners.

After much deliberation, the judges announced their decision. First place went to Twiggy as Baa Baa Lambie. Second went to Willow as the Starbucks Pup Cup. Kinley, as Wednesday Adams, was tapped for Honorable Mention. The first and second place winners were awarded trophies along with gift certificates for a Who’s Training Who session. Honorable Mention took home a trophy and gift cards from Pet Food Express. All participants received goodie bags courtesy of Pet Food Express, ensuring every pup left with a smile.

The local Pioneer newspaper and Clayton Valley Pet Food Express proudly sponsored the event. It took place alongside with the larger Hay Day event organized by the Clayton Community Church and the Clayton Business and Community Association.

This year’s Woof O Ween celebrated Halloween as well as community spirit and love for our furry friends. Participants left with tails wagging and spirits high. We look forward to doing it all again next year. Have a safe and happy Halloween!
