Clayton’s CBCA celebrates 40th anniversary during BBQ and Brews festival weekend
CLAYTON, CA (June 17, 2024) — A hungry and thirsty crowd headed to Clayton last weekend for the Clayton Business and Community Association annual BBQ and Brews festival. The two-day event held at the Oakhurst Country Club was extra special this year as the organization celebrates its 40th year as the Clayton community’s prime benefactor.
The weekend opened on Friday with the Roundup BBQ dinner and dancing to the Honky Tonk Heroes against Mt. Diablo’s majestic background. More than 400 guests vied for dozens of raffle and silent auction prize baskets. An entire room was dedicated to celebrating the more than $2 million the organization has plowed back into the community over its 40 years—all raised through events and festivals run by the all-volunteer organization.
On Saturday, BBQ aficionados gathered from all over the Bay Area and from as far away as Kansas, Ohio, Michigan, and New York to partake in the KCBS sanctioned BBQ event.
Proceeds after expenses from both events are donated back into the community in the form of grants, charitable contributions, civic projects and support for local schools and sports teams.
Besides the KCBS Professional Pitmaster competition, BBQ and Brews features great food, craft breweries, live music, cornhole competitions, acrobats, and vendors of all kinds.
Jason and Adam Springer went home with the title of Grand Champions for the BBQ competition.
