Census 2020 Caravan parades through Monument Corridor in Concord

Concord, CA — The City of Concord collaborated with the Contra Costa Census Office to promote 2020 Census response in the Monument Corridor neighborhood. A special Census 2020 Caravan paraded through neighborhoods on August 6. Volunteers began decorating cars at Concord BART before making several stops along the procession route.

Participants of the Census 2020 Car Caravan included Concord Vice Mayor Dominic Aliano, Council Members Edi Birsan and Carlyn Obringer. Representatives of Supervisor Karen Mitchoff’s office, Monument Impact, Monument Crisis Center, and the Mt. Diablo Foundation, White Pony Express, and the Contra Costa County Complete Count Committee also attended.

The Caravan is a fun way to bring attention to the 2020 Census, which is vital to our communities. There is much happening in the world today that it may seem like the Census is an afterthought, but the Census is actually incredibly important. Census data will help determine how more than $675 billion are spent on the state, county and local level. The government recently announced that gathering of Census data would close earlier than planned, so it is vital that everyone respond quickly.

The Census will assist the people of Concord in receiving their fair share of funding. It will also help retain political representation over the next decade. Taking the census is a simple thing to do. It can really change the future of our communities for the better. And if you have not already done so, please complete your Census form by going to the website https://my2020census.gov or complete it by phone at (844) 330-2020. It takes only a few minutes and can make such a big difference.
