CCTA announces telephone town hall on county transportation issues
As Contra Costa County’s population increases, so will the demand on its roads and highways. Contra Costa County Transportation Authority (CCTA) has developed a 30-year Transportation Expenditure Plan (TEP) to maintain and support transportation infrastructure in a smart, sustainable way. The Plan seeks to accommodate the county’s diverse and growing needs.
Key goals of the TEP include:
- Smoother traffic flow
- Improved transit options
- Cleaner BART stations and train cars
- Reduced emissions and improve air quality
- More bicycle lanes and walking paths
The CCTA wants to hear from all county residents, from Brentwood to Orinda. It is reaching out to drivers, walkers, cyclists and transit patrons to learn where the roads need fixing, where the bus routes should connect, where to modernize roads and transit systems with new technology, and how to better serve the underserved.
The TEP outlines a vision for improving movement throughout the county. Among other ideas, CCTA is considering:
- Improving Highways 242 and 4 and the eBART corridor
- Modernizing I-680, Highway 24, and the BART corridor
- Enhancing I-80, I-580, and the BART corridor
