Burglar hits barber shop

Clayton police are investigating an early morning burglary at Hair’s the Place in the Village Oaks building on Center Street.

The security alarm alerted police who called owner Nancy Willis Bacerra around 6 a.m. on April 8.

Burglars snapped off the lock on the front door and took an estimated $700 in cash.

“I never leave money in there overnight,” Bacerra said. “But I had to leave early that day.”

A client told her later that day that his wife saw someone standing in front of the door when she was out on her morning walk. She waved, but the man didn’t wave back. Thinking it odd, she mentioned it to her husband who drove to the barbershop to check. The police were already there.
