Four-year-old boy helps feed the hungry
Clayton resident Paula Bakeman has been keeping her 4-year-old grandson Julian Thorsen busy picking grapefruit. The pair are collecting the fruit as part of a community effort that includes “Lemon Lady” Anna Chan, Laney Cline King and the Clayton Girl Scouts. Fruit from neighborhood trees is then donated to a local food bank. Chan remarks, “The wonderful harvest helpers like Paula and her grandson Julian are what keeps this project going to feed the hungry.”
Julian and Paula picked more than 100 grapefruits before calling it a day. Julian was ready to pick more the next day.
