CLAYTON, CA (Jan. 26, 2025) — The Clayton Historical Society’s Feb. 16 Camellia Tea continues a tradition begun in 1977, when descendants of Clayton pioneer families, as well as many long-time residents, gathered at a residence on Morgan Territory Road to celebrate.

The view of the most rugged side, the North Peak, was a beautiful backdrop – along with the driveway filled with blooming camellias.

Since then, the Camellia Tea has been held each year at the Clayton Museum to celebrate old timers as well as relatives of the founding father.

Each year, the public is invited to visit the museum for tea, coffee or punch and cookies. In addition to the museum exhibits, there is a gift shop for browsing. The free event will run 1-4 p.m. Feb. 16 at 6101 Main St. in downtown Clayton.

The museum’s normal hours of operation are 2-4 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays. It is run by volunteers and members of the Clayton Historical Society.
