BBQ contest draws hungry crowd to Clayton
Despite Saturday’s sizzling temperatures, the annual Clayton BBQ Cook Off brought hungry people to downtown Clayton. The Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event featured pro pitmasters and backyard cooks competing for over $10,000 in cash prizes. Barbecue teams from all over the country made their way to Clayton. More than 40 barbecuers participated. The event also featured craft beer, live bands and stagecoach rides.
The Master Series Grand Champion team of the day was Big Poppa Smokers. The top teams in the Backyard BBQ series were NB Construction in the chicken category and Low N Slow Smokin’ Que’s in the ribs category.
