Applicants Sought for Concord/Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee

Concord, Calif. (August 25, 2022) – Concord City Council has announced a recruitment for the Concord/Pleasant Hill Health Care District Grant Committee. They need to fill two unscheduled vacancies for terms ending June 30, 2023, and another vacancy for a term ending June 30, 2025. The Council set the deadline for applications to the City Clerk by Friday, September 23, 2022, at 5:00 p.m.

The City’s Community Grants Program provides funding for programs that benefit the Concord community. The Concord/Pleasant Hill Health Care District (CPHHCD) grants committee provides an integral part of the decision-making process in funding these programs.

Concord is the subsidiary district of the CPHHCD. Revenue from property taxes funds health-related programs and services for Concord and Pleasant Hill residents. These programs include nutrition services and healthy eating, and meal delivery for homebound seniors. It also gives support for victims of domestic violence, hospice care, and outreach services for the homeless.

The Concord City Council serves as the Board of Directors. They anticipate funding to stand at approximately $250,000 per year for the next five years.

Grant committee

The CPHHCD grant committee reviews and rates applications and makes funding recommendations to the Board.

Currently, the CPHHCD grant process runs in a two-year funding cycle followed by a three-year cycle. The first year of each cycle typically requires processing for 35-50 applications. In the second or third year, meetings are held as needed, generally every two to three months.

The regular meeting of the CPHHCD grant committee takes place on the third Wednesday of the month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. They will schedule additional special meetings as needed. Attendance at two or three Council meetings over the course of the year is also encouraged.
