So This Happened…Week of Feb. 10-16, 2025

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Feb. 16, 2025) — From the pope to werewolves: Pioneer film critic Jeff Mellinger invites you inside the Vatican with his review of the Academy Award-nominated movie “Conclave,” featuring Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci and Isabella Rossellini. He also writes about the computer-game based “OBEX” and the disappointing “Wolf Man.”
Notice to dog owners: Concord will close Newhall Dog Park Feb. 24-March 17 and Baldwin Dog Park March 17-April 21 for renovations. Of course, bad weather could always change those plans, so the city set up a hotline with more information.
Here are some other stories the Pioneer covered recently:
In business: Joann Fabrics in Concord to close.
In sports: Pioneer Athlete Spotlight on Anjanette (AJ) Taguinod of Clayton Valley Charter.
From the police: The latest arrest report from Concord PD.
