Clayton Chief of Police Richard McEachin announces resignation
CLAYTON, CA (Nov. 27, 2024) — After two years of dedicated service, Chief of Police Richard McEachin has announced his resignation from the City of Clayton Police Department. Effective December 19, 2024, Chief McEachin will take on the role of Police Chief for the City of Atwater, California.
During his tenure, Chief McEachin has led the Clayton Police Department with distinction. His new position will see him overseeing the Atwater Police Department, a larger force with 31 sworn officers and 13 non-sworn administrative personnel. This transition marks a significant step forward in his law enforcement career as he returns to the California Central Valley, where he resides.
The Clayton City Council, staff, and community have extended their gratitude to Chief McEachin for his service and wish him continued success in his future role.
To ensure a smooth transition, the City of Clayton will engage a reputable executive search firm to assist in recruiting both an interim and permanent replacement.
