Military Aircraft to Visit Buchanan Field Airport in Concord

C-130 aircraft.

CONCORD, CA (Sept. 27, 2024) — An Air Force C-130J from the 314th Airlift Wing in Little Rock Air Force Base will be passing through Buchanan Field for an off-station training mission on Saturday. The aircraft will take part in the local Girls in Aviation Day.

While the C-130 is quieter than many aircraft that utilize Buchanan Field on a daily basis, it will look different  than what you’re used to seeing. On arrival, as part of the crew’s training mission, they will fly the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) published instrument approach to the airport and will use standard FAA departure procedures when leaving. While the different look and sound of military aircraft can be unexpected, b Contra Costa Public Works assures the community that this is a planned training mission for the 314th Airlift Wing.
