Briones guardrail upgrade project in progress, expect traffic delays through October 31

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (August 28, 2024) — Contra Costa County Public Works began construction on the Briones Area Guardrail Upgrade Project this week. The plans show the work continuing through Thursday, October 31, 2024.

The project will upgrade existing guardrails to current Caltrans standards on Alhambra Valley Road and Bear Creek Road in the unincorporated Briones area. Work will take place between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), weather permitting.

Traffic controls will be in place. The project manages have included restrictions to minimize impacts during commute hours. Drivers should expect delays of up to 10 minutes through the construction zone and consider alternative routes during working hours.
