Guitars Not Guns will perform at the Creative Concord Art & Music Jam in October

At Guitars Not Guns, the message is simple – and heart-felt
Guitars Not Guns instructors shared lessons with kids at Concord Library last spring.

CONCORD, CA (August 24, 2024) — Guitars Not Guns Contra Costa County provides guitars and lessons to foster children and at-risk youth.

The group is getting ready for the 9th annual Keep Music Alive Kids Music Day this year. This annual event, held on the first Friday of October celebrates children playing music. It also highlights the importance of music in children’s education.

That same weekend, the group will participate in the third annual Creative Concord Art & Music Jam. The two-day event celebrates art and music in Todos Santos Plaza.

This free event returns, bigger and better than ever, on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 and 6, 2024. It will feature live local music on the big stage in the plaza, 16 artists creating 5’x6’ large-scale canvas paintings, and the unveiling of six new public murals in the downtown area. Other public experience events take place each day from 12PM until 6PM.

Guitar not Guns will bring an ensemble of their students to open the event. The live performance takes place on Saturday October 5 at 12:15 PM. The group will also provide a guitar ‘petting zoo’ where kids can pick up and play real guitars. In addition, they will showcase four unique Art Guitars hand-painted by local artists that will be put up for auction to support their ongoing efforts at countering violence in the community.
