Clayton’s National Night Out event will also take place on Tue., Aug 6 from 6-9 p.m. at the Clayton Community Park. This year’s festivities will include food trucks and a DJ. Chief McEachin expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “We had a great turnout last year, and I look forward to an even bigger turnout this year.” The annual event aims to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Residents will gather for an evening of fun activities, delicious BBQ, and neighborly conversations.

A Tradition of Community Building

National Night Out, which began in 1984 on the East Coast, has grown into a beloved tradition observed on the first Tuesday of August. Originally, neighbors simply turned on their porch lights and sat in front of their homes to show solidarity. Today, it has evolved into a nationwide event bringing together communities for safety, unity, and fun.

Concord’s National Night Out Plans

While Concord will not hold a city-wide celebration this year, individual neighborhoods may still organize their own gatherings to participate in this national initiative.

Come out and join your neighbors in Pleasant Hill and Clayton to celebrate National Night Out, strengthen community ties, and support our local law enforcement and emergency responders.
