Back-to-school Free School Supply Give-a-Way in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, CA (July 17, 2024) — To help students prepare for their return to the classroom this fall, Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery (MDRR) invites everyone to attend its annual Book Bag and School Supply Giveaway. The event takes place on July 27 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at 555 California Avenue in Pittsburg.
All are welcome to stock up on the school supplies and book bags kids need. This will help them put their best foot forward during the 2024-25 academic year. Now in its fifth year, this annual giveaway is extremely popular. MDRR encourages families to come early for the best selection. You do not need to register for this event.
“My favorite aspect of this event is hearing from kids and parents that they were able to gather everything they need to start the new school year without spending any money,” says MDRR CEO Kish Rajan. “The fact that we are getting these items into the hands of people who can use them instead of sending more items to the landfill matches our company’s philosophy.”
Among the many ways MDRR stands apart from other environmental services companies include its high diversion rate. They also maintain a deep commitment to reuse.
A dedication to resource recovery
“This giveaway is not just about providing free, reusable supplies. It’s a testament to our dedication to resource recovery,” says Rajan. “Reuse is a critical component of the sustainability puzzle and is one example of how we optimize the use of the materials we collect and process.”
Throughout the year, the MDRR Reuse Team works hard to gather a variety of pre-owned school supplies. They later redistribute these through the company’s network of more than 20 partnering nonprofit organizations and during this annual community event. MDRR is playing a huge role in building a more sustainable future.
A parent or guardian must accompany minors under 18. All guests are required to sign a Media Consent and Release of Liability at check-in.
