Concord’s Sean Bryan scores fastest time of the night on American Ninja Warrior
CONCORD, CA (July 12, 2023) — Sean Bryan recently added airplane pilot to his long list of skills, but he didn’t need a plane to fly through the obstacle course on this week’s episode of American Ninja Warrior.
The former college gymnast has appeared on 8 seasons of the long-running NBC TV series. Competitors must overcome a series of climbing, jumping and balancing challenges to advance. Over the season, the field will narrow to the best of the best. The prize at the end? One million dollars.
A New Jersey native, Bryan attended UC Berkeley where he competed as a member of the Cal gymnastics team. He now calls Concord home. He is a co-founder of Traverse Fitness in Richmond, one of the largest “ninja” training gyms in the US.
Episode spoilers ahead
Bryan, now 38, made his first appearance of ANW‘s current season on the July 10 episode. With the fastest time of the night at 1 minute 14 seconds, he easily qualified to advance to the semi-finals. He is currently one of the top 4 fastest athletes to complete this season’s qualifying course without falling.
His fast time also meant he got a chance to climb the “Mega Wall” after his run. This bonus obstacle offers a chance to win $10K. The Mega Wall is a smooth, curved wall that stands 18.5 feet high. Ninjas must sprint up the steep surface and grab the ledge to pull themselves to the top.
Unfortunately, Bryan’s attempt at the Mega Wall fell short, but he remained at the top of the episode’s qualifiers. He joins fellow Concord competitor Noah Jones in advancing to the semi-finals. Jones is a Clayton Valley Charter High School wrestler.
American Ninja Warrior airs Mondays on NBC and also streams on Peacock.
