So This Happened…Week of May 1 through 7, 2023
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (May 7, 2023) — Rain or shine, East Bay residents came outdoors to celebrate at a variety of events – from Spring Fest in Concord and Livermore’s Hike for Hope, both on Saturday, May 6, to Clayton’s Art & Wine Festival the previous weekend.
And there’s more fun on the horizon, including Mother’s Day programs at East Bay parks, the Concord Mayor’s Cup May 19 and Clayton’s Gardens Tour May 19-20. For more local events, check out the Pioneer’s online calendar.
While you’re out and about on local roads and highways, Concord police are offering a reminder to check twice for motorcycles. “Please share the road with motorcycles,” notes Lt. Gregory Rodriguez.
If you need to head indoors – perhaps taking time to recover from seasonal allergies, our book reviewer Sunny Solomon suggests diving into Raymond Chandler’s “The Little Sister.”

She retired from newsrooms in 2001, but an ad for the Clayton Pioneer drew her back in. The family moved to Lake Wildwood in the Gold Country a few years ago - but working at the Pioneer keeps her in touch with her old neighborhoods in Concord and Clayton.
