Clayton Valley High educators rallying for fair settlement with school board Apr. 12
CONCORD, CA (April 11, 2023) — Tomorrow, the Clayton Valley Education Association (CVEA) will hold a rally to call on CVCHS management to reach a fair settlement with educators that prioritizes student success. CVEA has 100 plus members comprising teachers, counselors and psychologists at Clayton Valley Charter High School (CVCHS),
Both parties are currently in the mediation process of bargaining. CVEA is asking for a salary increase and fully paid medical benefits to retain and attract qualified educators. They also want smaller class sizes so students can receive more attention.
CVEA is also part of the East Bay Coalition for Student Success, which is made up of 18 California Teachers Association chapters across the East Bay. The group acts under “the guiding principle that all students deserve the best.” With uphill battles, such as the national educator shortage crisis, the coalition, along with district management teams, are engaging in collaboration, strategic action and shared trust to focus on the safety, health and overall well-being of students. Their hope for the 2023 – 2024 school year is that more districts recognize these successful partnerships and put students and educators first.
“We hope that CVCHS management will realize the importance of reaching a fair settlement that supports all students. With the support of our peers in the East Bay Coalition for Student Success, we also hope that CVCHS management realizes the value of partnership and collaboration to provide the best educators and resources for our students,” said CVEA President James Corcoran.
