PLEASANT HILL, CA (Feb. 10, 2023) — Police in Pleasant Hill recently highlighted numerous incidents of vandalism at city parks over the past few months.

The vandalisms included graffiti and damage to playground equipment. Pleasant Oaks Park and Sherman Acres Park have endured damages and clean up fees exceeding $15,000. Pleasant Hill Police Department, with the assistance of Pleasant Hill Middle School, have identified five juvenile suspects related to the damage. Officials have referred the suspects to juvenile probation for community service and restitution.

PHPD continues to work closely with Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District to help combat the issue. PH Rec and Park has installed live feed/monitored surveillance cameras. In addition, PHPD officers continue monitoring the parks.

Since it takes a team, they now ask for resident’s help. Everyone wants to keep city parks safe and clean. So, if you witness a crime in progress and/or suspicious circumstances dial (925) 288-4600 for non-emergencies, or 9-1-1 for urgent issues. All other park related questions contact Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District.

Also, there has been excessive “hanging out” by juveniles at PHMS before and after school. If your child attends PHMS please monitor them and keep an extra eye out, before and after school.
