Three Re-Elected Contra Costa Board of Education Members Sworn in

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (Dec. 10, 2022) — Three members of the Contra Costa County Board of Education won re-election in November. The trio took the oath of office during a special meeting on Friday, December 9. Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey administered the oaths.

Sarah G. Butler, represents Area 2 (Canyon, Concord, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Walnut Creek, parts of Alamo, El Sobrante and Kensington). Mike Maxwell, represents Area 4 (Blackhawk, Clayton, Danville, San Ramon, and parts of Alamo and Concord). AndAnnette Lewis represents Area 5 (Antioch, Bethel Island, Brentwood, Byron, Discovery Bay, Knightsen, Oakley and parts of Pittsburg).

They each recited their oaths of office and were sworn into new four-year terms, which will expire on December 9, 2026.

One of 58 counties in the state of California, Contra Costa County has the 9th largest public-school student population in the state (approximately 158,401 students). Officially established in 1932, the CCCOE has a long history of providing direct services to some of our county’s most vulnerable students. This includes young people challenged by incarceration or homelessness. It also includes those in foster care, as well as students who have severe physical or emotional challenges.
