Travis Credit Union Honored as Air Force Credit Union of the Year
VACAVILLE, CA (August 29, 2022) — Travis Credit Union (TCU) was honored for the seventh time with the Air Force Distinguished Credit Union of the Year Award. The award marks the third recognition in the past four years. This national recognition from the United States Department of the Air Force was presented to TCU at the Defense Credit Union Council’s Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, acknowledging TCU as the on-base financial institution that has gone above and beyond its duty to provide superior and customized financial service and financial education to Air Force members and their families.
Travis Credit Union’s efforts include focusing on financial wellness for active duty and retired military members and their families through special courses and weekly newcomers meetings. TCU has aligned all Financial Wellness sessions with Air Force mandated Financial Readiness Training to bolster digital “Touch Point” delivery with in-person seminars for Airmen. In 2021 alone, the credit union provided free financial education to over 3,000 military members and their families.
“It is a great honor to receive this prestigious award for the seventh time and to be able to provide free financial education and resources to the Travis Air Force Base community. On behalf of TCU’s board, management, and staff, we thank our military members and their families for their trust and support,” said Kevin Miller, President and CEO of Travis Credit Union.
“As a credit union founded in 1951 by military and civilian workers at Travis Air Force Base, we have always taken a proactive approach toward improving the financial wellbeing of the military and their local communities. This commitment is evident in our military-focused programs, products, and philanthropic support.”
Some of the initiatives include a military advance line and low-cost line of credit to pay off predatory lenders, a first-time car buying program for military members, and Travis AFB Fisher House support, where military and veteran families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital. TCU also provides special financial education classes for veterans along with resources for county veterans’ service offices, and veteran support organizations (VFWs, American Legion posts, and Veteran student groups).
Headquartered in Vacaville, California, Travis Credit Union is a not-for-profit cooperative financial institution serving those who live or work in Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, Placer, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Napa, Contra Costa, Alameda, Sonoma, Colusa, and Merced counties.
