Concord’s National Night Out brings community together

CONCORD, CA (Aug. 3, 2022) — Concord residents gathered to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday.

The event featured activities for kids, including a bike rodeo in the library parking lot.  Concord Jr. Giants commissioner Ana Villalobos helped guide children over the bike course.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign. The event promotes community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live.

Besides food from Hella Tacos and a live band, community groups got the chance to talk to families at the event. Groups such as the National Coalition Against Prescription Drug Abuse and Concord’s Community Youth Center presented information to attendees. Also attending, members from Contra Costa Health Services Black Infant Health program. 

Concord Police officers gave kids the chance to sit in the driver seat of a police cruiser or sit on their motorcycles. They also brought a flying drone demonstration.

One group at the event, Charitable Crochet, came to raise funds to help the people of Ukraine. These two young ladies, Lily and Adelina, offer free crochet classes and raise funds for various charities. They will teach their next crochet class on Friday, Aug. 6.
