CLAYTON, CA (June 24, 2022) —Clayton held its first Gay Pride parade on Saturday.
Organized by Clayton Pride, a group of local residents, the colorful parade brought a diverse array of marchers. The parade featured elected officials – including mayors and City Council members from Clayton and surrounding communities, county supervisors and school board members. Business leaders, veterans’ groups, Girl Scout troops, church groups and the Clayton Valley Charter High School drum line also joined the party.
The theme was “All the Colors of the Rainbow,” and the crowd took that to heart with multi-colored banners, clothes and even hair.
Cw Wolfe, Clayton City Councilmember took on the master of ceremonies duties. “I cannot say how proud I am to be part of this pride organization,” he said. “All in all it was a great event, a peaceful event, and an historic event.”
