Garden club adds another memory to Valentine’s deliveries
CLAYTON CA – Instead of honoring her mom with the annual Blossoms for Barbara, Linda Manss Karp dedicated last month’s event to her dad, Fred Manss, who died in November.
Sponsored by the Clayton Valley Garden Club, Blossoms for Barbara delivers “love, compassion and gratitude” for Valentine’s Day.
“The beautiful cyclamen and kalanchoe plants were gifted to people in our community under Hospice care, patients in assisted living locations, battered women’s shelters, hospitalized veterans and elderly recipients of Meals on Wheels,” said Karp.
“Again, we were thrilled to deliver Valentines of gratitude to our health-care heroes in the COVID units, urgent care and vaccine departments at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and Concord. I also stopped by our Clayton Fire Department and surprised them with our Valentines filled with gratitude,” Karp added.
Now in its 11th year, Blossoms for Barbara gifted 1,382 flowering plants – with a combined total of 12,132 plants.
“With the support of the Clayton Valley Garden Club, local businesses and individuals, the Blossoms for Barbara Valentine’s event has continued to flourish,” Karp said. “This event means so much to so many.”
