Ruth Bancroft Garden staff shows off their favorite holiday gift picks

WALNUT CREEK, CA (Dec, 18, 2021) — Staff members at Ruth Bancroft Garden shared their favorite gift ideas from the Walnut Creek garden and nursery.

Nursery Associate Daniel chose the light-up holiday ceramic cactus. “I like that it’s decorative yet festive for the holiday season.”

Sue, an Inventory Manager at the garden likes the Wild Jules Seed Balls for stocking stuffers. “These locally made and sourced seed balls are a great low-cost way to bring pollinator friendly and colorful CA native plants into your yard.”

You can find puzzles and wreaths and garden décor at the nursery, which is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am-4pm. And, of course, you’ll find the perfect gifts for the plant lovers on your gift list (or yourself). Nathan, another Nursery Associate, recommends Euphorbia milii ‘Hestia.’

“One of my all-time favorites with beautiful contrasts between the leaves, spikes, and flowers,” says Nathan.

It’s also the time of year where you’ll need to start protecting certain plants from the cold weather and frost. Stop by the nursery and get your frost cloth.

Remember not to place cloth directly on plants. Create a structure/frame using stakes (or similar material) and drape the cloth over the structure ensuring the cloth completely covers the plant.
